Who runs this?
Cownty is an independent project, built in the Texas Panhandle and run by the Cownty team. It isn't affiliated with any sale barn, buyer, seller, lender or government agency, and it never sells your info.
Send us a note with questions.
Where does the data come from?
All public sources: the U.S. Drought Monitor, USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) program lists and disaster designations, and USDA AMS Market News sale barn reports. Every alert links the official source. See data sources.
Does a text mean I qualify for money?
No. It means your county showed up on a public list. FSA decides eligibility for each operation. Call or visit your county FSA office.
Do you file applications for me?
No. Cownty never files, advises or represents anyone. We tell you what changed and what records FSA usually asks for.
Are the prices what I'll get?
No. They're USDA-reported averages from past sales at each barn. Your cattle may bring more or less.
How many texts will I get?
One price text a week, if you picked prices: a single weekly digest that rolls up all your barns. County alerts (LFP, drought, burn bans) come only when something changes, which is rare.
How do I stop?
Text STOP to any Cownty message. You're out right away.
Can you add my county?
The maps and prices work anywhere. Texts cover all 469 counties in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and New Mexico now; more states are added where the public data supports it.
